Rifle Armor

Field protection of rifles is a serious subject with armorers. Rifle Armor creates a seal over the most vulnerable parts of a rifle during storage.

The Client

Darrick Deeter came to Kickr with a prototype designed to protect firearms in his department’s armory from dust and dirt. He needed help optimizing the design to ensure reliability while maintaining quick, easy removal in emergencies. Kickr refined the concept to balance protection, speed, and practicality for real-world use.

The Challenge

Darrick Deeter approached Kickr to optimize his prototype for protecting firearms in his department’s armory from dust and dirt. The goal was to refine the design for real-world performance, ensuring a balance between durability and fast removal in emergencies. The biggest challenge was achieving precise fitment around the trigger and barrel muzzle—tight enough to block contaminants, but not so snug that removal became difficult. Kickr delivered a solution that met both protective and operational needs.

The Solution

  • We helped Derrick with ergonomic features that would allow the trigger cover to be pushed on quickly and grip within the trigger guard. Then, with fingertip squeeze action, deform the cover to release it from its grip.

The Results

We delivered a concept design and prototype that helped to test the idea and prove out the functionality improvements. From here, Darrick was able to communicate with a vendor who helped him scale up the idea for production.
